We booked our charter at the end of last year's charter in March 2020 just as the pandemic had started. We were not imagining that the pandemic would go on for so long. As we prepared to come to the BVI's the various websites for getting COVID testing were complicated but the actual testing process on the islands was relatively simple. The sailing was amazing with steady trade winds, no traffic and blue waters. I think we say maybe 10 other boats during the entire week. We got the best moorings and anchorages in every bay with hardly any competing boats. The beaches were empty and it was paradise. At the Baths and Devil's bay we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. The snorkeling was incredible and there were visibly more fish, rays, sharks and dolphins than last year at the Indians and Leverick Bay. We saw tiny coral buttons sprouting up all over the place in the sea grass fields. I imagine it was like the BVI's were back in the 70's before it became "a thing". Definitely worth the extra effort wrangling the COVID websites to go the BVI's now while the end of the pandemic keeps the crowds away.
