We did a 14-day monohull charter with BVI Charters — our first time with them — and it was outstanding from start to finish. The boat was immaculate, very well presented, and clearly well maintained. Everything on board worked perfectly. The handover was thorough, unhurried, and gave us plenty of time to ask questions and revisit anything we weren’t sure about. The British Virgin Islands are simply fantastic for sailing: consistent 15–20 kn easterlies, minimal tidal considerations, and mostly line-of-sight navigation. Fuel and water are easy to access, docks are sensibly positioned, and the weather was incredibly consistent. As for BVI Charters themselves: genuinely one of the best charter companies we’ve dealt with. There’s often a worry that charter firms are looking to catch you out with damage charges — not the case here at all. We reported a few items (a sail bag zipper, bimini stitching, and a broken jammer). Only the jammer was charged for; the rest were correctly classed as normal wear and tear. The jammer charge was fair, transparent, and in line with retail pricing. They were so good that we booked our next charter for January 2027 on the spot. We even toured one of their other boats, a Dufour 530, which we’ve since booked as well. You really can’t go wrong with BVI Charters — professional, fair, and genuinely lovely to deal with.
